You're right in that there's a difference between a core fan and an average fan, but this confuses me. Why does it matter if someone did or didn't stick around for her beginnings? You appeal to the audience that gives you attention, and thus money. A majority of the people who watch Ai today likely don't even know all of the Kings, let alone anyone outside of them. The only notable thing early Ai did that her core fanbase cared for was yelling fuck you in Resident Evil 7, which is why the first part of her next Resident Evil series has a million views but every part after that getting two thirds of that cut down to 300k, almost everything after the third part not getting much higher then 150k views. Minus one part where the title has the word "fuck you" in it where she got double those views at over 300k because that's all her core fanbase cared about.

Those are the only roots her "core fan" cares about. If you somehow got a """good""" english VA and made different videos with her, you'd likely see her average views spike, or even double. Especially if she doesn't split it into another channel like Siro did and quit at before she started. /jp/ vastly underestimates how little taste the average gaijin has. Why else do you think they keep watching bad dubs, and badly written shows, bad games, and watch videos with clickbait thumbnails and titles like this? You don't like it, I don't like it, but the idea that "An English Ai will sell" isn't a wrong one. Because gaijins love shoveling down fake anime-y garbage without getting too anime-y, and what better way to do that then with dubs over subs?
