You can keep romanticizing poor quality all you want. You say the updated sprites are generic and that they don't convey emotion but personally I call BS. You can capture emotion with skilled drawings just fine. To me it feels more like you're just hating on any new art regardless of how it actually looks, simply because in your mind Ryukishi's original art is the best thing ever and nothing will ever surpass it.

I actually prefer the mangagamer sprites over the old PS2 ones for some characters. They're pretty hit or miss though.
