Wrong; /jp/ plays Melty Blood albeit rarely which stopped being doujin after ReACT, and it's about as /jp/-related as they come.
The reason fightans are so popular on /jp/ is because a) the board moves slowly enough that netplay threads are actually doable as opposed to getting purged within minutes before players can finish one set, ie. /v/ most of the time, b) the games are obscure, forgotten, and unpopular, much like /jp/ers themselves, and c) they have little girls in them; Mycale has sort of a hnngggh factor here so I guess that's close enough. Technically it's Japan-related enough because both the fact that it was made there and that it's really German, which is a country that Japan has relations with. So it works.
Of course, I bet I could start a wanwan thread on /jp/ and have it actually get popular because of all the little girls in it, but despite my love for it and its characters it really is a terrible game; it's a bit silly to go that far just to prove a point.

That's probably why I like it so much. It's just a piece of trash that likes to pretend it's Guilty Gear, what harm would there be in enjoying it with a bunch of NEETs? Also Corona so hnnnnggggh, you can't deny it.

The whole deal with these flavor of the month fightans is that they can just be downloaded and played so commercial games, we'd rather not. Even better if they're freeware.
I mean really, if a PC AH or MBAA came out I admit I'd play the fuck out of it, whether /jp/ joined in or not.

Yeah, I'm just gonna go ahead and call it 'Mediocre World,' that fits and makes me feel less ashamed for playing a 2D fighter maker game that doesn't look as flashy as VagPov in public. And .47 doesn't really play that bad, I'd host it right now if I believed any of /jp/ would join in.
Really though, I'll play you kids if I see another EFZ thread, likely until the end of time, but all the other players got bored and left-- it was inevitable, there was nothing we could do to stop it. I don't like it but we have to just accept it and move on.
