But. Satoko had a really awful childhood. And Gou turned her early adolescence into something even more fucked up. I think the way she got through it, as depicted by Kawaguchi's anime, is okay. He never understood any of Higurashi's characters, but you can see where the red string of Ryukishi's original plot lies.
