A new study led by Yale's Jonathan Tracy examined whether or not a group of female streamers under the name Hololive, whose members aged between 18-30, set out to find whether or not they had good taste in video games as over 80% of their activities comprised of playing games and streaming them on Youtube. The results are published in Autism Weekly.

Tracy and his colleagues -- Washington State University's (WSU) Stefan Turneaure and Princeton University's Thomas Duffy, spent over 12 months watching hundreds of hours of the girls streaming content. Among their most played games were a various assortment of Nintendo games, Minecraft and battle royale Apex Legends however an online open world survival game called ARK: Survival Evolved was by far their most played. Introduced by Kiryu Coco, an ugly happa with a muppet voice in her early 30s, introduced the game to her colleagues in early 2020 and surged in popularity wand painted a bleak picture for the researchers.

"We were shocked. Not only was the game quite frankly a janky boring piece of shit but all they did playing it was fucking around while flying, grinding for resources and taming animals" Tracy explained "I think it's a clear indicator that women just have terrible taste in video games and suck at them too however a postivite side effect of the sheer boredom these games induced was that they were a large deterrent to foreign viewers."

Interestingly enough the researchers had found that Cover Corp, the owner of the Hololive group, had a male only division of Youtube streamers called Holostars and noted that not only did they play better games but were on average just about better at everything compared to their female counterparts.
