I dunno. We keep it very sober. We have no adornments beyond a single cross we have in our living room, but that one is there all year long.

Ah, you are right in this. "Baal" could also be used to refer to a woman's husband or your owner if you were a slave, besides using it for gods. My bad.

As for the rest, the Azazel bit seems more like a recent addition. Probably churned out by Kabbalah, in my opinion.
