I really like the traditional dere dere romance of mermaids, and while nice- they can be too vanilla at times for me, unda da sea home can be a put off as well occasionally.

Am I a bad person for wanting to put monsters in romantic situations that require them to betray their more orthodox behaviors?

Examples-

Violent Ogre becomes tender after running into an anon with weak constitution from chronic illness

Manticore ditches her sadism streak to help anon with ptsd and congenital heart issues

My favorite is pic related, since MGE describes them as having personalities so gentle that they “almost never” attack humans, which implies they do in certain circumstances.

Anyone have any fun ideas (or any really) that would drive a mermaid to do such things? It’s been pretty difficult for me, because the driving factor behind these situations is usually to keep potential partners alive/healthy, there aren’t a lot of good-aligned forces that would drive someone to rape, although I guess it doesn't have to be, I'm just pretty bad at it.

Any suggestions? Brainstorms? Anything ideas are welcome
