I think the only examples were the virus who I don't count because it was literal astroturfing and Rhythm. I agree with you that "the thread used to do it" is retarded for a variety of factors because in case it weren't obvious from other posts, introducing discussion of english-speakers nowadays has an immediate blowback of bringing in retards from the unmentionable thread and board even when anons here mean well. But at the same time it's not like the "thread", if you wanted to somehow encapsulate it, didn't hate it more than say... literally fucking anything? Even scatmiko had a hater at some point and her only notable event was her revenue stream that incited more despair in me than hatred. /vy/ used to exist as a thread where some people would only talk about subbed content after it was subbed, where a video getting them would be a happening for the thread, and people would do their own translations with it overall being seen as a good thing to do; it wasn't a forbidden topic because it didn't need to be. Which is why we ended up getting some of the drama from men from certain fictional towns or Eilene's bubble or Loserbait. It shifted for a variety of reasons including the Troubles but it's not like english vtubers were ever unmentionable back then, it's just nobody cared about english vtubers because they were usually either incredibly rare and incredibly fucking boring, and sometimes the people who were entertaining were also coinflips on being literal shits I.E. Eilene who definitely had some shills and some anons who liked his girls.

Ironically? Mira Pink is one people swore up and down was a shill at some point including myself once or twice because she was both shockingly boring and still talked about, but a year or so back she said on her camwhore stream she didn't even know we existed while in the same breath talking about presumably the /aco/ lewdtuber thread and how she's posted virtual tits there a couple of times.
