This is the exact MO and isn't exclusive to LNs by any means. You see this dumb shit all the time in Japanese vidya too and have been for decades now. Series like fire emblem have been seeing rewrites and omissions for nearly 2 decades now and when autists try to get more faithful translations out there they're put down by alleged fans and the localization defense force. Luckily, it's come to the attention of Japanese publishers and some like Sega have been more hawkish about it. Here's to hoping that attitude finds its way to LN authors too.
