Is your selcom okay, anon? Higanbana only has two advantages compared to RGD, namely the artstyle and the music. Not that RGD's artstyle is bad, in fact it's really great but I'll always prefer Ryukishi's drawings. Other than those two qualities, Higanbana falls flat in my opinion. Besides Marie and Higanbana who were great to make me forget how much the whole thing was boring, the best characters don't have nearly enough screentime in my opinion. Kanamori, Izanami, the Headmaster and the other teacher are stuck in a story who didn't delve more into them and it makes me sad. People can complain about how the RGD ending was rushed and left a lot of characters with their plotlines unresolved but at least we had the time to know them and see them grow. I guess the format is to blame here.
The edgy moments were cringe and unimpressive compared to the paranoia one could feel when reading Onikakushi for the first time. Which is a shame because the backgrounds, CG and tracks were really well made to create that horror feel.
