I think the real issue with them is that they all don't have enough going on. All the mysteries and past of the characters were solved in the original series, and these sequels aren't doing enough to make up for that.

Gou/Sotsu/Meguri have the future Satoko stuff but, in addition to especially in the anime not feeling consequential enough to justify a new parade of tragedies, everyone aside from Rika are in this odd situation of being dragged to a plot that's completely irrelevant to them, which is part of what hurt the Answer Arcs.

We were introduced to new supernatural stuff with Eua, but then R07 refused to elaborate on them and they felt completely separate from the setting - to the point that in the anime everything ended without Rika ever learning about Eua on-screen - rather than it being used as a new mystery to be unveiled.

Rei(wa) also just feels empty. The new characters, their bonds... just feel weak. The whole "new wind of Hinamizawa" from the original series completely failed, but no one seems to be bothered that a status quo they disliked still exists 30 years later. And it still has the issue of Hinamizawa's mysteries being solved, so all intrigue comes from the Polaris side, but every reveal we've been getting lately has made it look more and more grounded too.

Really, at least Mei is going all in on new conspiracies and new supernatural mysteries. If they want to keep Hinamizawa as a setting they really need a way to add intrigue back to it.
