I guess people expect a project to grow, rather than suddenly 90% done and just needs art. In which case the problem then becomes leadership, some hapless guy who's willing to stick in there for the long run, breaking up circlejerking, make sure new stuff gets done incrementally, all without being overbearing.

Striving isn't supposed to be easy, if you truly want to strive for it you won't quit one goal just because theres other obstacles in the way. When you want something, you have to go for it. Work on how to figure out those setbacks in the way, and then reach for your goal, kyoudai.
