I've been a delusional shipperfag for long enough that even when a character is in a relationship, if I get a kick out the dynamic between them and another character, I can't help but imagine what could be.
Plus, having a waifu is more of a personal thing with your appreciation of the girl, not necessarily the exact cannon. It's what you take away from the story.
