Also, a government in Gensokyo would probably be run very similar to how Pre-Meiji-Era Japan was, very communistic with multiple daimiyos ruling certain areas.

Nope. All the other cultures of the world are far more interesting than Japan.

For example, ancient Egypt is pretty cool. Beer was quite important part of the ancient Egyptian diet, as it was an easy source of calories and offered some nutrition. I'm also fond of the Egyptian god know as ZUN; I believe he taught his followers how to brew beer.
