I like how, once again, this just devolved into doomposting and how the "fandom is dead". The fandom has never been more alive in the west, we've never seen more quality fanwork from the west since the beginning of Touhou. This isn't the "cause" of a fandom, it's one guy false claiming lmao

This type of controversy have always been just more prominent here. This is nothing in comparison to the guy that tried to get the Touhou copyright for his own years back, or even when ZUN shut down a Kickstarter fangame.
People have been doomposting about Touhou since 2007, how the fandom is "dead", too "normie" now, etc. Happened with Bad Apple and Night of Nights. Happened with Memories of Phantasm. Happened with Momiji. Happens all the fucking time.

Thing is, Touhou as a fandom is so "fragmented" that it's almost impossible to ruin it unless it goes full mainstream. Touhou has so many avenues you can enjoy it from that "ruining" one part of it isn't enough to topple it. Touhou isn't some one-company conglomerate which is defaced because one poor advertisement, it's always been a connected yet segregated collection of individuals who make their own shit with a Touhou coat of paint.
Yukkuris, Bad Apple arrangements, Fumos, Cookie, the games, mangas, etc. all exist on their own sphere. If you're brittle enough that you bend over because one aspect of it gets a little bit popular, then I don't know what to tell you but just wait a bit longer. Touhou has always managed to have one aspect of it become popular every year or two, it's practically a tradition at this point.
