After she had rotted Miyazaki once again returned to Mari's body, which he had apparently returned to on multiple occasions including murdering and dumping the remains of his second victim near by.

He eventually dismembered Mari then burning the remains except for the hands and feet and her teeth in his furnace. He then smashed the charred remains and put them in a box.

He went and drove back to Mari's apartment, parking in the lot shown in the photo here, and then placed the box along with some photos and a letter in front of her family's apartment door.
