Japanese gacha marketplace is completely saturated and also shrinking. That means new games can't rely on growth of new users and instead have to steal users from already existing games if they want to survive.

But due to sunken cost it's really hard to get people to switch to another game, so couple that with a saturated shrinking market and no wonder every new gacha is flopping. Even 3D gachas with somewhat original gameplay, such as 404 or Snowbreak, don't seem to be doing well. Looks like for your gacha to survive nowadays it needs a big marketing budget and something outstanding that differs it from the competition.
