only 2k/6k. to be honest I already tried doing this a year ago, going at 50 cards/day pace. I got bored when I reached 2k, and I thought I would forget everything but so far I recognize almost everything (some after a few tries), except for 続く and other abstract words, fuck them (things like "police box" 交番, serial number 番号, and bullshit like that)
most of the 800 first words are simply variations on simple kanjis you are taught early on, like "every" 毎, and 月, stuff like that.
if words keep confusing you I just imagine asses and tits everywhere, that helps, except for abstracts. example: 座る
