In January of the year 201X, the Large Hadron Collider is finally able to achieve full power.

The first experiment conducted under this condition results in a cataclysm that completely annihilates CERN headquarters. The facility is torn apart by subspace interference, rending steel and flesh alike in the process.

For a short time afterwards, distortions in subspace appear all over the world. You just so happen to stumble into one of these distortions, which just so happens to terminate in Gensokyo.

However, in response to the events which have taken place in the outside world, Yukari Yakumo has fortified the great barrier, and when you attempt to pass through it, you are very nearly killed by the stresses placed upon your body as it is forced through.

When you emerge, your body is battered and broken, and you begin to lose consciousness.

Though blood obscures your vision, you see the face of a woman just as the world fades to black.
