So here's my guess as to why she never got as big as she did. She's an absolute airhead. Like, it's not even a character for her, she legitimately feels airheaded and doesn't seem to do well with on the spot questions. She needs someone to help her out or needs certain questions to be asked. That isn't bad in itself, and it's probably not the reason why she won't get roles. However, there's a combination of being a veteran seiyuu plus needing to be marketable. Let's pretend the cost to get her to be in your show is the same as Satomi Sato or Aki Toyosaki. Or maybe she is a few thousand yen underneath their cost. It's still marketable to pay for a more well known name. Kanae Itou has claimed that what she has now feels like luck, so I also think that maybe she is fine with small popularity. That's just what I think. She's still a big enough name to get people to ask her for autographs, ask questions and go to her panels at conventions.
