You can blame that on the fact that the main director of Godzilla, Tomoyuki Tanaka, was sick during its production and so a guy named Banno who was the producer was the director of this one, so Tanaka never saw the movie until after it was released. He was so fucking pissed at it (with scenes like Hedorah beating the shit out of Godzilla and people on screen decaying rapidly into Skeletons in a graphic manner) he forbid Banno from making another Godzilla film ever again, saying he "ruined Godzilla". Despite this, a Godzilla VS Hedorah 2 was in the works, just with Banno not as the director but a smaller role on set. In the end though it ended up being scrapped for Godzilla VS Gigan instead. Despite the above, Banno later was working on Godzilla 3D, which would've starred a new form of Hedorah, and it would've been Godzilla's revival debut. Unfortunately it never got made and everyone on the project moved onto Godzilla (2014). To this day, Banno still hopes for Hedorah to return to the Big Screen someday.

Outside of the above though, Hedorah is still one of Godzilla's most iconic foes, and one of the more powerful, on the same rank as Ghidorah and Destoryah. Poor girl has the talent and skill, just has bad luck.
