Hate to compare the people in Yukari's life, but...

Was Ran even born back in the day when Yuyuko was still alive?

Unless the ZUNiverse differs from reality in more subtle ways than frills, silly hats and lasers, they were. Everyone was. It's nothing strange, it's just how feudal gender-segregated warrior aristocracies tend to work.

An ancient Chinese philosopher once used clothes as an argument against the existance of ghosts. His argument was that since ghosts were reported to appear in the clothes they wore in life, their clothes too must have had souls turned into ghosts, which he argued was an impossibility since the clothes were still there and free to be worn by someone else, thus creating a paradox if that person was to die. Thus he argued that if clothes do not have souls, ghosts cannot appear in the clothes they wore in life, and thus all ghost stories must be fabrications and ghosts do not exist.

Apparently he died following an unspecified shock.

Nyarlathotep - SSiB Yukari.
Yog-Sothoth - Gameplay Yukari.
Shub-Niggurath - Anon-needs-to-get-laid Yukari.

All are facets of a greater whole.

Unknown. Do ghosts age? Spiritually of not physically?
If I'm not mistaken, Yuyuko died a late teen.

Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro has a youkai (of which the name escapes me) that makes its home in gaps.
Not sure if it's legendary or a modern invention. Obakemono doesn't list it, and can't do much without recalling the name.
