Before hitting 30 I decided that I would actually try to life a "normal" life and that, in normalfag terms, went surprisingly well. Half through the support of people that still cared about me, half through dumb luck. I stopped visiting /jp/ as much around Christmas 3 years ago, and ended up not checking in at all 2 years ago.

I came back after I had settled into my new life, after the mortal terror that I experienced almost every day had gone away, after I realised just how bland and unexciting everything really is.

There reason I came back is the same reason I came here in the first place; there's no other alternative to escapism if you're fed up with (or scared of) living in the real world. /jp/ now is different than what I remembered, but still the same in so many ways that it doesn’t feel at all like I have been gone for so long.

There’s no moral to this story. Nothing has really changed and I didn’t learn anything from it, other than that being able to support yourself financially is nice if you want to take it easy in the long term. Which is what I'm forced to do, since I'm still the same coward who can't bring himself go through the portal.
