It's really useful because the words are so common, but after you're done with stuff like "school", "dog" and "apple", you'll find that the example sentence gives you more information about the meaning of the word than the randomly picked translations.
You might want to start actively using dictionaries and lots of example sentences if you want to have at least a general idea of what the words might mean. Be ready to look stuff up on simple Japanese websites, too, to know the difference between seemingly identical words.

What exactly does "ご覧のスポンサー" mean?

"Sponsors of watching"? (But they didn't fund watching, they funded production and broadcasting).
"Watching sponsors"? (And what about the sponsors who aren't watching?)
