Think of Greek myth, a god beds a mortal, baby is a demigod - said demi-god has some extreme quality like Hercules's strength. He has that because a part of him is a god, not necessarily a 'genetic half', assume that a god can sire both morals and demi-gods, each gamete/egg/sperm/whatever contains two sets of information god and non-god - at conception it divides between the two choices for each connection/amino acid/gene. Now just replace Greek deities with youkai, or Gensokyoan(?) deities.
