I tend to think that ZUN had his best ideas more frequently between about LLS to SA.
Not to say that every song in that range was perfect, or that songs outside that range are all bad, but that's about the range I think he had the most consistent output of good songs.
Example; I like all the songs from EoSD, inculding all the stage songs, apart from the stage two theme, since it's like a Soul as red as a ground cherry, but less catchy.
However, I like a few of the ones that came earlier and later than that, it's just that between those two calling a song 'bad' feels too harsh in every case.

But my favourites from LLS specifically are Yuuka's themes and Kurumi's theme and stage.
They deserve a remaster, at the least, but that might be my yuukafag bias shining through.
I do prefer sleeping terror to inanimate dream, by just slightly, it has more of a monumental tone to it.
