Did you level them up and use good equipment in the other slots? This was my loadout for the final E6 kill. I'm using the third 51cm from ranking rewards along with the submarine torpedoes, and skilled lookouts for the fleet-wide accuracy bonus. It's important to have Yamato planes on all the battleships so they can get contact with the target, and they should all be level 81 or higher. Make sure you have air supremacy so your scout planes don't get shot down. (Fighters in the boss support fleet are great for this; you can use Kaga there with her big slot, and I had my Repu 601's on her)
