A shame, I wanted to like it but everything that doesn't involve him is awful interminable infodumps and zero-self-awareness textbook bad light novel chuu2. It's like a parody of itself played straight but yet also has the parody.

And the MC, great as he is, feels bizarrely transplanted in from some better game. Like, after the initial shock of his lack of fucks given for courtesy, morals, and basic common sense, everyone just kind of ignores everything he does. I guess it's kinda natural that you end up just rolling your eyes after the third time he calls the imperial princess 'kisama' and propositions her, but what's the damn point if everyone just does the usual baka ecchi demo yasashii schtick. No one listens to him, nothing he says really matters, except the few times they remember he's supposed to be an eroge MC and give him some out-of-character nice one-liners.

And then it's like the writers went 'oh fuck, we can't think of any reason why this smug cunt would want to be involved in any of this plot stuff' so instead of working the plot around him, they just leave him out of everything important or have him play the stupid card so we can get another infodump on YET ANOTHER engrish chuuni sciencemagic bullshit thing (but we won't actually explain it, you'll have to pay a visit to the tips screen twelve times in the middle of a fight if you want to know)

And THEN you commit the criminal sin of making all the side girls more interesting, fun, and having better banter than the main girls.
