Yeah, that looks reasonable (I just see the attached). The weird circle thingy is your font/browser/font layout engine/whatever's way of saying "you told me to modify some other character, but there's either nothing there, or it's not modifiable like that".

Specifically, the glyph you're posting is composed of one U+E0F (THAI LETTER TO PATAK) and a few dozen U+E4E (TAI YAMAKKAN). Thai rendering is hard, used to be primitive, and is now less primitive (see https://linux.thai.net/~thep/th-otf/shaping.html for some historical details). I believe I'm still observing the primitive behavior, which packs all yamakkan characters into one place. The screenshot at >>15258775 appears to show what I guess is intended behavior, where the yamakkan characters increasingly ascend as they are applied to the base to patak.

I think >>15281958 is actually a bug, but it definitely comes from attempting to make the rendering better. Turns out making computers represent written text is very hard.
