His name is Wu Xhao Ping. He actually studied with me in an exchange program two years ago here at the university. He is a very fun guy to talk to, although his english is very broken. He would frequently complain about how the food in China was much more flavorful and less expensive than the food in America, and I could not help but agree. However, I would also frequently interject that Japanese food is truly the pinnacle of the human culinary experience, but for some reason he would never accept my invitations to eat sushi on Saturday nights. Oh well, more for me.

Unfortunately, I received news that he was killed a couple of months ago when he was run over by a rickshaw while doing service work in rural India. This picture you posted brought back many fond memories of the time we spent together, Thank you very much OP, this was a great moment for me.

Yeah, this is really depressing. Do translated VN really only sell that little worldwide? I remember thinking 100,000 was very little for initial sales of Dragon Quest 7 in America, so in comparison 2000 seems incredibly minuscule, and apparently the usual sales are even less. I can understand it for random no-name sexromps like Suck My Dick or Die, but even somewhat popular VN and series?

Do the vast, vast majority of people pirate, or is there really very little audience to begin with? I would think that worldwide, there'd at least have to be millions of people that are into hentai and such...

Sad but true. More and more companies are closing down, leading to monopolies that appeal to the mainstream with fanservice and repetition. I've talked to people working in the anime industry and there really is a lot of fear right now. Popularity and recognizability of brand is becoming more important than content.

It really saddens me, but my primary interests are manga and visual novels.
