Alice is a very sad person, and while it's easy to be sympathetic towards her when you first meet her, she will quickly burn away any good will you have towards her. It's clear that while she is a very unfortunate person, she also makes no attempt to better herself or to even just recognize the problems with her behavior. Even if you've been nothing but kind and understanding towards her, she'll still try to sniff your armpits, ask if you want to see her diaper collection, reach out and touch your face and manipulate it in odd ways, completely oblivious to how strange that is and with no consideration of your feelings. Only when you try to explain to her that what she does isn't quite socially appropriate, even in the softest and gentlest of terms does she react. She'll just start sobbing like a child, inconsolable until she can either escape the situation or until you can convince her that you didn't really mean it and that you don't hate her or think she's weird. She, consciously or not, realizes that sobbing is a quick and easy way to extract sympathy towards people and restore some good will, and begins doing it automatically whenever she is confronted. She is stuck in a cycle of being weird and sad, finding someone who feels bad for her, latching onto them and draining them emotionally, and then escaping responsibility and the need to improve when that person tries to help her out of this mess she's made of herself. This is the problem with Alice Margatroid.
