the way you've worded that sounds like you wanted the kids to mirror their parents even more with the dynamics of a younger character like rika and sakiko needing to have a rika even though she's probably the best member of the kid cast because she's got enough differences from her mother's original dynamics
i feel like the main problem with them is that they're just their parents with small differences (kihiro's a boy, tamaki's an unholy amalgamation of both twins, sakiko has a good home life and keitarou's trying to be his dad and failing miserably), adding in more characters that'd have the exact same issue of being mirrors of older characters to further mirror their parents' dynamics would only make them worse, not better
the best solution would be to not have done this shit at all and just followed the older cast that everyone actually cares about, but the second best solution would've been to apply the creation method of kururu and inori to the rest of the kids, and create entirely new characters who are different enough from their parents that you could change their hair color and last name and you wouldn't immediately think they were related, instead of working off of 'child of OG cast member needs to be recognisably the child of OG cast member' like they evidently did for these lot
