Elevens have a tradition of asking students their dream job and seiyuu was recently high in the rankings (few years ago youtuber was #1) which is clearly caused by KnY being a huge hit among normalfags (probably the biggest thing since Eva), so seiyuu as a profession is definitely trendy right now even if the profession itself isn't that strong in the whole entertainment industry (musicians, idols, actors, comedians, tarento etc).
For example, Sugita and Nakamura were the top two seiyuu on Twitter for a over decade (which is ironic considering Sugita only created his account because Nakamura said he would end up speaking alone) but Hanae Natsuki overtook them with a rush of million new followers in the last 18 months (more than half of his 1,9M total).
