well, i say that because in greek myths persephone was kidnapped by hades and that made that the spring never comes to the earth, causing the winter.
In PCB, yuyuko an entity related to the Netherworld take the spring using the Saigyou Ayakashi and that causes a perpetual winter, i just say that is a bit similar.
