He just needs his new "mom" to convince him that she's got it taken care of and tells him to let it go to live out and enjoy his life. Human lives are too short to worry about that kinda stuff; maybe raising a bunch of children that he didn't ask to father for the rest of his life is not a good way to spend your limited years. So let people who do have the time, years, energy, and most importantly desire look after kids who will still be kids decades years on from birth. Save his responsibility for him and the people he loves.
