The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

I've heard it was good from more than a few people so I decided to check it out; but after looking up the episode list on Wiki I learned there were 3 different orders to watching the show.

I decided to watch the DVD order, which I can't really explain the difference so here's the link;

But it seems like the first 7 episodes pretty much take all of the plot from beginning to end, so I'm not sure what to do. Should I watch the rest of the episodes or are they irrelevant? It seems like not much else happens in the series after the main plot.

Should I have watched it in a different order? Are the remaining episodes in the DVD list relevant and worth watching? Any feedback would be great, I'd hate to think I messed up a potentially good anime.
