I'll spell it out for you, the whole story is about how we deal with tragedy. The very very end, the last scene, has Tohya finally accepting his past as Battler, and wondering why he didn't do it sooner. It's about finding joy inside grief. It seems like you want him to never move on, to never grow up, to keep in a state of denial.
