I dunno. Start by finding one friend you'd enjoy chatting with. After a while, they might introduce you to another friend or a server of likeminded people. Bit by bit you meet new people, some good some bad. It's no different from any other social networking service. It's just a matter of how you use it. I usually hate those sort of things, but even I've managed to find about a dozen people who I enjoy talking with it over the last year and a half. Again, more than 90% of the usage I get out of it is via DMs. I keep any servers I'm in muted and only check them when I feel like it.

Just reminiscing about the good old 07th expansion discord fragments that now all turned into sjw hotspots.
