What fucks me about it isn't that people who are depressed watch and support vtubers to deal with those issues, that makes sense. What fucks me about it is those people understand the uplifting power of a vtuber and then actively seek to undermine it by bringing up negative shit in a paid message where they could say literally anything else. You can superchat a message that says basically the same thing without making a depressing by just avoiding talking about shit being bad. It's not required for them to know you're in a bad place in order for them to appreciate a message that's basically "hey, you brighten my day!" Nothing can possibly piss me off more than someone superchatting "Hey Gura, your streams saved me from killing myself yesterday, love you!" How do they not see what the fuck is wrong with that? Why do they want to make this person they like and wish to support think about suicide? These people don't care about whoever they're watching, it's completely fucked.
