Merry and Renko are 20+ years old, likely 20-22, as the drinking age in Japan is 20, and they canonically drink alcohol.

My headcanon is that they are either related by blood somehow, or that Merry eventually becomes Yukari after traveling back in time. Where does this leave Renko? Perhaps she becomes the first Hakurei Maiden, or the mother of the first Hakurei Maiden. Who knows.

Based on celestial events, we know Merry and Renko exist around 2151-2153, making Sumireko an ancestor of Renko, perhaps a great great etc grandmother or aunt or something.
