I know you're funposting but burgers are totally American, pizza was invented in Naples but they don't stick Ham & Pineapples in it or even Pepperoni. American food is just food from immigrant cultures like fries and hot dogs, except for like smoked Buffalo jerky, Corn, potatoes, tomatoes, and whatever else the natives ate.

Well in the sense that it's the Whatever Symphony Orchestra playing Chopin, they are being advertised.

They're not pretending to be the original composers though, same with Babymetal.

That's a bit of an overstatement. Linkin Park absolutely smashed them in terms of record sales and popularity, just as far as other nu-metal alt-rock bands go, other pop-rock bands like Coldplay were much more popular too.

But yeah they were definitely mainstream top 40 material for sure, with all of the divisive love and hate that comes along with it. Not unlike Babymetal of course

I'm not really making fun of them, but I know that within the "real" metalhead circles it's going to be an absolute shitshow for them to see two of the biggest "posers" in metal. Then again any publicity is good publicity.

Quite a few things.
-If a band is trying to cash in on a trendy new musical genre. Like nu-metal and pop-punk in the late 90s, a lot of bands were just doing their thing and got unwillingly lumped into those trends, but some bands willingly hopped on the bandwagon. Avril Lavigne is a great example.


-If a band is just trying to copy the fashion of a music genre without actually playing the music itself. That Korean band Pritz I think had a music video where they were dressed in punk/metal clothes while dancing around to pure pop.

-If a band is trying to make a genre more commercially accessible. I guess that also ties in with the "musical trends" I first mentioned. Back the days in Limp Bizkit almost everyone in a nu-metal had to have a DJ and vaguely rap along. These days it's Metalcore where you have to have a young androgynous man sing beautiful melodies with his golden voice.
