It does actually. If it carries any information, it need to have information entropy, and finite amount of it. Destroying data would increase said entropy, but at the cost of energy.
Second Law of thermodynamics states that eventually entropy is going to max out, or in other words, all data is going to be destroyed. So if, you attach to data an energy required to erase it (which will eventually have to be spent), and convert that energy to mass via E=mc^2, you get mass of that data. Put it in a gravity field and you get it's weight.
