People often say that Umineko had a bittersweet ending while Higurashi had a happy ending. But I don't get it.

Sure, Rokkenjima Prime is a tragedy and the family is dead forever. But the meta is REAL and the meta versions of the characters are pretty satisfied by the end of the story. All the bad things that happened to the pieces in the gameboards are just fantasy.

Higurashi had a "happy ending" that allowed the characters to move forward with their lives. But that happy ending is only for Rika. Everyone in the village, including her friends, is completely fucked in every other fragment. And this shit is actually real.
