I spent a lot of time playing obscure video games too (Ocean Trader or Archimedean Dynasty, anyone?) but not because I didn't search or anything. I didn't even have internet access in the 90s because my mother didn't see any value in it ;_;

I would've just gone outside and played with the other kids, but they would always ridicule me for the weird clothes my mother made me wear and how fat I was due to being dependent on my mom's unhealthy cooking ;_;

My dad probably would've been more open to the idea, but he was a weirdo cultist who wanted to send me to one of his cult's boarding schools in the UK ;_;
