Here's Runon, a character mentioned in ep 1 and in ep 4 as she and other servants talk to the press about what happened on the island.
Shannon and Kanon were basically the only servants on the island at the time. Everyone one was off duty or on vacation, as mentioned in ep 4.

All the servants have grey pendant.

The other servants have the same grey badge on them.

It's simply that all furniture are bellow human because of their class, not because of their inability to have sex but to be loved or to be seem as someone of the same status. Shannon even mentions in their date in ep 2 with George that she can't love him because she's furniture.

It's more of a social aspect than a biological one if you look at Lion who is the next head of the family, Krauss and Natsuhi who are part of the family and Ikuko who is the author, the highest position of them all. Shannon and Kanon are simply servant and by being tools, furniture, bellow respect, recognition and love.

The badge doesn't mean anything unless you imply that all servants have the same body or some crap.
