I wouldn't really say that Aunn is directly linked to Heracles, but rather lion dogs are descended from western influences on Asian cultures through the Silk Road and ultimately the product of an Asian practice adapting western beliefs to fit their religious views of the world. Lion dogs share much in common with the Nio, large human statues protecting temples from evil spirits and the like.
