Yup but IMO (and most /djt/ regulars at the time) the 'lower levels' of Japanese proficiency don't really matter. You should have some idea of where you stand by the complexity of the material you consume i.e. yotsubato vs monogatari, vns vs literature etc etc

Yes and the questions were similar if I remember correctly. There are sample jlpt tests on the internet which were to my memory accurate in mimicking the difficulty of the actual test.

Something like 250? I'm not at home so I don't have the screenshot, but I remember it was just over the criteria for N1. My score kind of stagnated around that mark and I'm sure if I took it now it would be around the same as I haven't done any active studying since the JLPT.

I know, my concern isn't with the Japanese language itself changing but the passing requirements of the test. For all I know they might have swapped out the passages with classical literature, that's how out of the loop I've been!
