Well, after the initial surprise she didn't complain about the beatings at all. It was when Satoko talked about school and called Rika a liar that she reacted again.

I think that's really what killed the finale to a lot of people. If Rika had at least said something about the loops, rather than the entire discussion going back to St.Lucia, ignoring everything Satoko did afterwards, people probably would have accepted the rushed finale better.
