When making master copies, is it a problem if the artist one chooses draws in an extremely stylised manner?

the proper way is to do it is as the original artist did down to the material if you’re being technical. you should research the artist’s process and working methods as well as the specific work you’re copying. you’re trying to pick up their methods and techniques rather than reverse engineering their style so follow any process videos they share. if you work digital try following a speedpaint as closely as possible. the approach is generally to emulate the original process so that you can refine your own work and process, including injecting your style with the techniques and traits you would like to develop with
