Constuctoids need to study less anatomy and more gesture and appealing poses.
Like wtf is that pose bro LMAOOOOO.
What's the point of drawing anatomically correct ankles if your pose looks like that? XD

You are doing it wrong. 99% of the time should be drawing.

My advice would be to do requests, you just learn differently when you know someone is expecting the finished piece. Also, it's a lot more fun and efficient than just grinding a gorllion boxes

people are going to flame you but you're 100% correct. whenever someone posts a picture here that looks great and is popular, a bunch of bitter anons here will redline and nitpick it and say things like "nyeeeeeee the eyes are 1.5 millimeters too far apart, the perspective is slightly off on her pinky finger, boy I'd die of embarrassment if I drew this!" and they just miss the whole point of art. They're sitting at their desk practicing anatomy and perspective and other garbage just to draw stiff ugly people that NOBODY WANTS TO LOOK AT.

The worst part is they believe they chose the right path in the long run. They may think their art has no appeal now, but there will come a time when they reach max stats and their art is beautiful AND correct. But to prove this wrong, just look at any fundies-based artist like proko. Post one piece he's done that has appeal. You can't. People might bring up traditional artists and their hyper realistic styles of guys in pinstripe suits drinking sodie pops from the 50s and stuff, but they all simply trace models and photos, so that's not the same thing as anatomy and fundies.

Why would you be studying technical anatomy then? The whole point of studying anatomy as a artist is because it is a rich source of gesture. An anatomy study is supposed to be a gesture study.

>> No.6634623

>>6634608
You study fundamentals but you also keep drawing what you love most. So you automatically always see how fundies improve what you love and what you need to work on.

Fully agree. Art is all about Appeal. Like it's cool that you can draw all of the human anatomy with the correct perspective but can you make it look cool? Can you make it look beautiful? Can you make it look like something out of this world?
What most people forget is the "Soul". No amount of technical drawing can compensate for not having Soul in your art.
>inb4 muh soul
No piece of art that impacted people's life lacked appeal or soul.
Nobody looks at correct anatomy & perspective and jizzes their pants out of excitement.
If your art doesn't look interesting, if it doesn't look appealing, and if it doesn't have a soul then what's the point of its existence?
People are way too scared to go deep inside themselves and draw with their soul, which then results in extremely generic and boring "art".
Your art is a reflection of your soul, so stop being a little pussy and reveal it.

unironically, just slap some feature you feel would fit on the potato face. Keyword here is "feel". One of the concept he teaches in one video is that everyone's brain has some understanding of what looks good. Use that as a guide. Especially when most on this board is digital, you can just undo some stuff if the experiment went wring and try again.

Discipline and a guide, Just write down your main, long term goal, then write down how to reach it through several short term goals. Then conquer each short term goals. If the short term goal is still too big for you, break down into smaller short term goals. then conquer those.
Basic problem solving anon,
Discipline is there only because by actually doing things does something happen. If this if your problem, try doing the non zero day thing. Where you try to do something productive, no matter how small it is, a day. This develop the habits.

i have a problem, im easily distracted even back when i was in highschool, maybe its because i was a careless retard that i prefers to browse the web than studying but i usually cant just stay there and do something without my mind going elsewhere, some anons from other threads call it a possible adhd but i dont know
its really difficult

>> No.6635886

>>6635811
that is possibly adhd or depression/anxiety, if absolutely everything you dont get instant gratification for feels like climbing a mountain when you force yourself to do it that is not normal and you should probably talk to a psych about it, normal people can do boring things without intense physical pain and mental anguish that makes them dance in their seat or having to task switch every two seconds to relieve the boredom

That's the easiest part - the real learning comes after the 250 boxes challenge. I strongly suggest giving it a try - it's free after all so you have nothing to lose

Dave Rapoza talks about this in his Orc tutorial, before that I thought something was wrong with me as well.

Focus is a muscle in which you have to train, you're out of shape, there's nothing wrong with you-in fact tons of writers talk about this shit as well. When first starting out I adopted the seinfield method of giving myself 1 hr a day where I can sit there looking at the canvas or draw no internet, no looking for refs, no cleaning something out of boredom, just those two options. You do have to remember that the more obstacles in your way for drawing (the more things seem tough or other things seem more fun) The more prone you are to distraction. Having a time goal gives you a point where you can feel accomplished, but you have to know what you want to get done during that session or you'll avoid having the session.
